Sweet Sunshine

First, I have to say I am so excited to be back to writing and sharing things I love!! I had the pleasure of hosting a beautiful baby shower for my dear friend Bethony, and I am so happy with how everything turned out. When I originally started to think about themes, I of course took to Pinterest and found several darling themes to choose from. Initially, I was thinking I would do a baby animal theme, as Bethony loves animals. The longer I searched for ideas, the less this theme felt like a fit for her and her style. This girl has owned her own online clothing boutique and she has done wardrobe styling for country music stars. So, her style is very specific and I wanted to give her a shower that really spoke to who she is. I began to think about what she embodies as a person. That is when the theme finally hit me. She is a ray of sunshine everywhere she goes. She is one of the most consistently positive people I have ever met. I think most people who know her would describe her the same way. With sunshine, came a ton of fabulous chic, boho options to choose from. As soon as I started down this path I knew this shower was going to be perfect for Bethony!

Before I get to all the gorgeous details, I just want to take a moment to touch on my approach when assisting with baby showers and assisting in the planning of this type of event. In this instance, obviously I have known the mama to be for a very long time! I had that advantage, and I didn’t really need to probe much to figure out her style. If I was to work with a new mama, who I do not know well, I would have 1-2 initial meetings or phone calls to really get to understand her style and her preferences in order to create the shower of her dreams! To me it is so important that the mama-to-be has a say in what goes into her and her baby’s special day. Now let’s get to the good stuff.

I enlisted the help of my friend Melissa and her sister Sabrina with Golden Arrow Events and Design, to assist in the design and decor and they really made my vision come to life! I will list all of the vendors for reference but I was so thrilled with how everything turned out. I think the flowers were my favorite part! That is a small world story too. Melissa hired the florist for me and she showed up at my house to set up and I immediately recognized her. Krista and I went to high school together! I am always happy to support people I know, especially when they are so incredibly talented! I hired a chef to come in and make a brunch style meal with all of the mama-to-be’s favorite menu items. Chef John did a fantastic job and he provided a couple cakes to go with the menu. He just recently opened a restaurant in South County and I cannot wait to go check it out! Melissa found the darling napkins that I think really tied in the table scape beautifully! Bethony did not find out what she was having so this theme made for the perfect gender neutral affair. Over the years my mom and I have thrown so many showers, and now with 3 kids I have thrown my share of birthday parties as well, and I think this one might be my all-time favorite! Thank you so everyone who helped me bring this vision to life in the most spectacular way.
